Asseco supports the largest international online hackathon led by the Slovak and Polish governments

Bratislava, 3 June 2020: International software group Asseco has decided to support the HackYeah Online 2020 hackathon under the auspices of the Slovak and Polish governments. During the weekend of 5-7 June, a team of professional volunteers will create an application that will make it easier for travellers to cross the Slovak-Polish border. The company will donate a prize of EUR 10 thousand to the winning project.

The application will inform people travelling between Slovakia and Poland about emergency regulations in both countries. It will also alert travellers about the current epidemiological situation and new concentrations of COVID-19 cases. Thanks to the app, residents of the countries can feel safe when travelling and avoid unwanted fines.

"We see the online hackathon as an opportunity to develop cooperation not only between Poland and Slovakia, but also as an example of specific activities of the V4 countries oriented towards improving the lives of our citizens and entrepreneurs. Talented people from Central Europe will have an opportunity to contribute with their own technological solutions and offer a practical answer to some of current problems," says Radoslav Repa, Director General of the Digital Agenda Section of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatization.

" Asseco Group, a global player today, was created by the merger of a Slovak and a Polish software company, so we are very pleased with the idea of cooperation between our countries. For 30 years, we have been among the leaders in providing modern IT solutions and innovations, thanks to which we can provide not only technical background but also experienced experts in application development," says Marek Grác, COO of Asseco Central Europe.

HackYeah Online 2020 is a virtual June edition of the largest hackathon in Europe, which aims to bring several technology and business solutions after the COVID-19 crisis. The main organiser is the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development, and Informatisation, led by Veronika Remišová, Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, and GovTech Polska, a Polish government organisation. You can sign up at hackyeah.pl.
