ePN - Project for online sick leave registration wins ITAPA 2022 award in Slovakia

Bratislava, December 2022: Asseco Central Europe, the leader of the eHealth vendor consortium, has scored a significant success with the ITAPA 2022 award in the category of the Best Corporate Digitization Project, which has been awarded for more than 20 years to companies delivering ambitious digitization projects in Slovakia. The winning project - the online sick leave registration defended its importance and processing quality in the area of healthcare and the digitization of government services.

The ePN project started to write its story already at the beginning of 2020, when the development of the project for the National Health Information Centre started. The aim was to simplify and remove not only the time-consuming burden of registering sick leaves, but also the formalities through the digitization of previously common processes.

The entire project implementation process consisting of several phases was successfully completed by Asseco in cooperation with its partner Ness and the ePN was deployed into production operation. The available statistics speak clearly: more than 123,785 ePNs issued as of June 2022 and almost 1,360 participating eligible physicians prove the importance of implementing digital solutions available easily and in a few clicks.

Replacing paper documentation with electronic medical records not only significantly eliminates the administrative and time-consuming process of recording data on the sick leave start and end, but also speeds up the entire process of communication with the Social Insurance Agency's information system. All the necessary information about the patient is automatically sent to the employer as well, resulting in time and energy savings for all stakeholders. The patient no longer has to leave the comfort of their home, as the entire communication takes place automatically, digitally, and without the need for their further interaction.

"Sick leave documents available online represent another essential step in the digitization of Slovak healthcare services, which significantly facilitates the work of physicians and, at the same time, brings convenience to employers and employees," said Erik Lukáč, Director of the Central Health Systems Division of Asseco Central Europe.
